About the Evening, and the Day That Follows
After two and a half years of intimate gatherings from New York to Mumbai, Abu Dhabi, Miami, Singapore, London, and beyond, Allocator One returns to New Delhi with its most ambitious edition yet, the first that moves past the dinner table entirely.
We open on Thursday evening with welcome drinks, brief remarks from the hosts, and an unhurried few hours for the room to find itself. No panels, no programme. Just the part of these evenings that has always mattered most.
Friday runs differently. A structured morning of conversation, panels drawn from across our global network, and then we leave the room entirely. The afternoon is spent at Buddh International Circuit with Ferrari New Delhi, behind the wheel of some of the finest machinery ever built for a racing line. Laps will be timed. Times will be shared.
Why It Matters
Venture capital and motorsport share a grammar. Both are governed by the tension between speed and control, and both punish the belief that either can exist without the other. Top gear is not about bravery alone. It is about knowing precisely where the grip runs out, committing early, and accepting that the corner you brake late into is the one that decides the race.
Emerging managers understand this instinctively. Conviction without discipline is a spin. Discipline without conviction is a slow lap in a quick car. The best of them find the narrow band where both hold, and that band is where Allocator One finds the top 3%: managers already running in top gear, long before the market notices.
The panels put that same idea to work: how the best allocators stay in control of capital that most still treat as separate, public and private, local and global, India’s own opportunity set inside a portfolio built worldwide. Staying in top gear means holding all of it, layer by layer, without losing the line. The circuit will test whether any of us actually believe it.
What to Expect
Two days, one circuit, and a guest list we’ve kept deliberately tight. Friday is unhurried: welcome drinks, and the kind of conversation that doesn’t need a programme. Saturday moves from a morning of real exchange on capital, sectors, and where alpha is building next, straight into an afternoon in top gear at Buddh International Circuit. Laps will be timed.
